Getting started

What is Enchilada and what does it do?+
Enchilada — Gmail is a Chrome sidebar for Gmail. When you open an email (or search a contact), it shows relationship context: contact details, recent conversations, shared meetings, attachments, and links — sent and received.
How do I install it?+
Install from the Chrome Web Store, then open mail.google.com in Chrome. Pin Enchilada if you want quick access to settings.
Why does Chrome/Google show an “unverified app” warning, and is it safe?+
During early access, Google may show an unverified-app screen for OAuth. That means the app is still in verification, not that it’s malware. Enchilada only requests read-only Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts scopes, and we don’t sell your mail. Proceed only if you’re comfortable; you can revoke access anytime in your Google Account.
What permissions does it ask for and why?+
  • Gmail (read-only) — conversations, attachments, and links with a contact
  • Calendar (read-only) — meetings with that person on your primary calendar
  • Contacts (read-only) — enrich the contact card when they’re in Google Contacts
What happens the first time I open Gmail after installing?+
You’ll authorize Google access, then the sidebar docks on the right. Open any email to load that sender’s profile, or use search to look someone up. A 14-day Pro trial can start with your Google account — no card required.

Using Enchilada

How does the sidebar know who I’m looking at?+
It reads the open thread’s sender from Gmail’s page, then loads that person’s profile. You can also search by name or email in the sidebar without changing the open message.
What do Conversations, Meetings, Attachments, and Links show?+
  • Conversations — recent subjects with that person (either direction)
  • Meetings — upcoming and past events on your primary calendar that include them (about the last 12 months for past)
  • Attachments — files exchanged with them
  • Links — URLs exchanged in message bodies (not signature clutter)
What does the “Sent” tag mean?+
It appears when the message has Gmail’s SENT label — meaning you sent it. Inbound mail isn’t tagged Sent.
How does search work?+
Type a name or email. After a few characters you’ll get suggestions from recent history, Google Contacts, and Gmail matches. Press Enter or pick a suggestion to load the full profile.
What does “View more” do?+
It expands the module in place and can load additional Gmail pages of results on Pro / trial. Free caps stop expand after the preview limit.
What are Notes, and do they sync?+
Notes are short reminders you attach to a contact. They’re stored with your Enchilada account so they can sync across devices when you’re signed in — unlike Gmail sidebar cache, which stays local.
What does the LinkedIn field do?+
If a LinkedIn URL appears in mail, we show it; otherwise you get a “Search LinkedIn” shortcut. You can turn the LinkedIn field off in Enchilada settings.

Privacy & your data

What data does Enchilada access?+
With your consent: read-only Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts data needed to build the sidebar. We don’t send mail or modify your mailbox.
Where is it stored — does anything go to a server?+
Gmail / Calendar / Contacts content for the sidebar is fetched to your browser and cached locally in Chrome. Our servers store account / billing records and your Notes — not your mail bodies. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?+
Uninstall the extension (clears local cache on that Chrome profile). Revoke Google access in your Google Account. For Notes and license/billing records we store, email support@heyenchilada.com with the Google account email you used. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
Does Enchilada see BCC’d emails?+
If someone BCCs you, you still have the message and we can show it when that sender is open (via normal From matching). If you BCC someone, we include those in profile search via Gmail’s bcc: operator. We can’t see other people’s BCC lists — that’s a Gmail limitation, not an Enchilada choice.

Billing & plans

What’s the difference between Free and Pro?+
Free (after trial): 3 conversations, 1 meeting, 1 attachment, 1 link — no expand. Pro: full history with load more for those modules. Contact card and Notes are available on both.
How does the trial work?+
14 days of Pro features, no credit card required. It’s tied to your Google account. Afterward you stay on Free caps unless you upgrade.
How do I upgrade?+
In the extension, use Upgrade and choose $4.99/mo or $49.99/yr. Checkout runs through Stripe after Google sign-in.
How do I cancel, and what happens to access?+
Use Manage billing in the extension (Stripe customer portal). Cancel anytime; you keep Pro through the period you already paid. No refunds. Local cache and Notes deletion are separate — see Privacy above.
How do I update billing info?+
Manage billing in the extension opens the Stripe portal for payment method and invoices.

Troubleshooting

Sidebar isn’t showing up at all+
Confirm you’re on mail.google.com in Chrome, the extension is enabled, and you’ve reloaded the extension after updates. Hard-refresh Gmail (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R). Pop-out message windows don’t show the sidebar by design.
Sidebar shows but no data loads+
Use Reconnect in the extension, then retry. Check you’re online and Google APIs aren’t blocked. If one module fails, try another contact or wait a minute for quota cooldown.
I got signed out / need to reconnect+
Choose Reconnect (or open settings from the extension icon) and complete Google sign-in again. Revoking Enchilada in Google Account permissions also forces a reconnect.
It broke after a Chrome update+
Update Enchilada from the Web Store, reload the extension on chrome://extensions, then hard-refresh Gmail.
